Licence to Play

Currently in a pretty good mood eversince the the last 2 days back. So light and breezy, almost felt like a child again.

So without further ado, here's the story behind my bliss:

A GIFT OF JOY AND GUILT

I was pleasantly surprised by my hubby on last Monday evening w
hen he came to pick me up from work. As I adjusted myself for a more comfortable ride back home, he quietly slipped onto my lap a small white plastic bag.

What I found in that small plastic bag blew me away. I felt a mixture of joy and awe but it was also tainted with a bit of guilt. For he had given me something which I had always wanted and what he thought I have yet to have. When in fact I already own a couple lower capacities ones well hidden away. What's more ironic is that, a few days ago I had just secretly bought another one exactly the duplicate of what he had gotten me now.

If you are now wondering what kind of gift my sweet ol' hubby had given me. I'll like to say that it's an apparatus that'll give me ample joy of making luve with my obsession. To have long and lengthy intercourse. To upload and download stuff. Lotsa stuff.

Here it is...

Kingston Data Traveler 100 [ 4GB ] USB 2.0

Yup, it's a flashdrive. What else did you think it was in the first place? Lol. And, computer is my obsession.

Now that I have two of these handy drives. Meaning 4GB x 2 = 8GB, I am so going to get myself busy. Busy uploading stuff. Packing it full with my goodies. Not bad, not bad at all *evil grin*.

I have just finished uploading this new one with loads of USB portable applications yesterday. Hmmm... I guess the rest of the space calls for more mangas, ebooks and audiobooks. Way to go baby.

Yes, I am touched and very much happy with my dearest hubb
y's gift. Like what I had always been telling my friends... I'd rather he buys me gadgets than flowers. I certainly don't mind a bouquet of thumbdrives! *chuckle*. It's not that I don't fancy or like flowers at all. I do like em. Just not as much as I adore IT gadgets, that's all.

By the way, my favorite flower is the white lilies. Roses are so old fashion. Lilies are forever pure and fresh.

CHILDHOOD DREAM TOYS

Right after that surprise gift, he suggested we go grab dinner at a local shopping complex.

Just when we are leaving the shopping complex after dinner and a bit of window shopping, we both saw an electronic toy of which have been on my wishlist since childhood. It was yet to be fulfilled up till now.

My hubby looks at me and smile knowingly. As I gasp and delights over the said item on display. As the toy unwittingly woo me over and over again with it's cute antic on display.

Needless to say, he bought it for me. And I am on cloud 9 literally. It's so sweet of him. I felt like throwing myself into his arm there and then and to kiss him silly.

Here, let me introduce you to my current #2 obsession...

Penguins on Slide

I play with it everyday. Switch it on every morning when I woke up to prepare self for work and when I came back from work.

Right now I am keeping my fingers crossed that my son wouldn't destroy it when he comes back from visiting his grandma (it's school holiday now).

Ahemm......

I just had to show you another toy which was also on that long pending childhood toy wishlist of mine. This one was granted during this year's Chinese Ne
w Year (February). Yes, again, it's a gift from my hubby.

Here it is...

Wooden String Toy Horse

Wasn't it the cutest? It is now my constant companion at work.

I know you would all laugh at me for being such an overgrown kid. Well laugh all you want cuz I don't mind it. As long as I am happy. That is what counts. Cheers!

NOTE:

Just in case anyone of you are interested to know what software I use for editing the above pictures it's called PHOTOSCAPE. You could get it free here. Well it's a freeware afterall. A really good one at that. Totally recommend it to all.

PICASA from Google is just as great too. Both are worthy image/photo editors and both are free. What more could one asks for?

I really dig PHOTOSCAPE's large templates library for collage making. Another feature which I adore is the ability to append text and also bubble talk diagrams. Oh yea, it also offers the ability to frame up your photos digitally. There are so many to choose from I am literally spoil of choices.

kleio,
Just after you told me about thumbdrives, you got yourself a thumbdrive from your hubby. kekeke!

Huah! That penguins! I think I have one when I was few years old. It's great to see that's still on sale! hehe. And yes, I also have that wooden string toy horse. But not a horse though. I have one which is a pink panther. That one, I think it's in one of my cupboard although I don't think it's working fine. Will take a photo of it and show you! :P

Now, what other toys are still in your list. Maybe I can dig my childhood toys for you too. :P

Anyway, glad to see that you're that happy. Sometimes, it's just good to have someone pamper you eh? hehe. :)

Oh yea, your Photoscape link isn't working. You didn't enter the link correctly. Would love to check that programme out as I'm currently using the famous Photoshop. :)

You really still haven't grow up, have you? Haha! I like the penguin thingy too! I don't think I would like to be caught dead playing that thing, at my age now! Haha! Sorry. I can be quite a society conformist at times! I hope you bear with me these days with my incessant rattling on the election!

Aww that's sweet of your hubby to get you what you love :) Especially love the penguin slide toy. Goodness me, I haven't seen that in ages! Am glad it's still around, amidst all the super-canggih toys these days ;)

PS: The Photoscape link is wonky leh.
PPS: I'm going to check that out now ;)

Ahhh so romantic. So nice right to be pampered. :P
I've never seen the 2 toys before. Guess my childhood toys are more simple.

Ar!! I like that Penguins toy! I am the one who grown up in childhood without toy, and my so-called toys are some super rangers draw on paper, color nicely, and cut out, can wear costumes too~
Sometimes quite naughty, I cut out those late people's face from newspaper and attached a body to it as villain for my super ranger 'toys'.

Until around standard 3, family financial is growing, then I got my first comic book, it's Doraemon, then I start to draw Doraemon and cut out as my toys, with a lot gadgets.

So now I am quite impress with mechanical and high IQ toys like puzzles and the one like your penguin toy.

Oh gosh, what fun! (And what a great hubby too!)

If I had wish, I'd get all my childhood toys like He-Man, Transformers, etc. but like the full, COMPLETE set? Lol. So embarrassing, I know, but what to do... 80's child here.

LOL!!!

*Chuckle* Yea, what a coincident. I was just saying to you a few days ago that I don't mind getting a bunch of thumbdrives instead of a bouquet of flowers. Even a if it is a large bouquet. Hahahaha. My oh my, I guess my desire was so strong that it boasted my signal to my hubby somehow. lol

I was practically having a tug-of-war with my desire and practicality when I saw that Penguin Toy. I was telling my hubby, 'It's ok honey we should go'. And wanted to walk away from it. Just tat my feet aren't very obedient then. My heart says stay and go grab that toy. Argh!! Then my hubby was the one who saves me from the agony of indecision. He propel me back towards the stall and bought me the toy. *Grinning eye to eye*. He just that sweet sometimes. Very dominating but could be overwhelmingly sweet at times too. Hence the love hate thing. Sigh...

Yea you go dig out all your childhood toys collection and have a show tell for us on your blog too. That would be interesting.

My friend, who doesn't like to be pampered???? I might be an eccentric but I do luv my fur to be petted down every now and then. Metaphorically speaking ok.

As for that PHOTOSCAPE link, I am not too sure why it's not working. The URL shud be correct it is just that that webpage just isn't loading at all. I have reposted another new link to it pointing to another alternative site for download. Hope you like it.

*Hugs*

Watashi wa mada kodomo de aru koto o tanoshimu [私はまだ子供であることを楽しむ] (I still enjoy being a kid). Sore to nanimo machigau kanzen niru [それと何も間違って完全にない。] (There is perfectly nothing wrong with it). Ken ka. [権利か。] (Right?).

Phew, it's so taxing to try conversing in Japanese :P

You are a kid at heart too then cos you like the toy too. Hehehehehe. You really don't have to die playing with it. I know, I know, my licence to play is long due it's expiry. I can't help it when I am still pretty much young at heart. A blogger friend (Kok) calls me an adult baby. Cheh!

As for me, I am as you know, not a conformist at all. The hell with it, I'd say. lol.

I really don't mind your political rattling. On the contrary I am glad to be kept updated on things going on around me by your free inputs. I am so much a 'Katak di bawa tempurung' (Frog under the well).

Tine dear:

As I just told Kok (see comment above to Kok), my hubby can be one helluva sweet guy when he is game. Unfortunately can also be a pain in you know where.

Eh!? I am quite surprise as to the welcoming reception on the Penguin toy by everyone. And I tot I was the weird one. HAHAHAHAA. I guess I am not alone here. I was quite surprise to have stumbled upon it too. I tot it was obsolete and I was just whining to my hubby a couple of weeks ago about not getting one when I was a kid etc etc. Cos I saw it on an advertisement as a background decor.

Next toy in mind.... an ipod! MUahahahahahahahahaa. If I think very very hard and focus real damn hard on it, I might just get it. Just like what happens this time around. I wonder....

Hope you like that free image editor (PHOTOSCAPE). To a non-Photoshop user like moi, it's heaven sent. A life-saver.

Che-cheh:

Of course dear I luv the pampering. That partly explains the cloud9 condition I am in too.

MY GOD, are you for real? You not seen these toys before? You really make me feel ancient now *pouts*. [Asks self, 'Am I really that old?'. That's a scary line of thoughts. Clears thoughts quickly and focus on sweet and fluffy stuff.]

Now you really make me wonder as to what sort of toys Che-cheh plays while still in diapers. Barbie? I own one too when I was a primary schooler.

You too! I am glad to have another supporter. Hiakz hiak hiak. *high five*.

Woah, you are pretty creative then with all those self made toys. I played with paper cut-outs toys too. Really enjoy creating dresses for em. Some of it are hand-drawn but quite a number of it are purchased at 'kedai runcit' (local grocery stores). Hmmm... I wonder if they still sell em these days. Must go check it out soon. Thanks for reminding me about it.

Eeeeee, I am a Doraemon fan too. Or at least, I used to be one. Until my son knows how to appreciate it. He then watched it around the clock and got me so sick of it now. lol. Last time, I used to buy lots of Doraemon comic book (Malay translation) even during my pregnancy. I guess, that explains why my son has an affinity to this anime *chuckles*.

I luv Doraemon cos I am charmed by all the gadgets and the unlimited possibilities it represents. And also the fact that it has a touch of moral education in the stories. That's why I don't mind my kid watching it.

Hmmm... one more thing. I am now curious as to how much would this Penguin toy fetch on an EBAY auction due to its rarity. LOL. Just joking.

Kenny Mah:

Thanks ;)  It was fun alright. My hubby is A okay, sometimes.

Hohohoho... I am a fan of He-Man too. So now you wanna play collector eh? It's good. But it might end up a big investment. Cos I think 80's toys like that only obtainable via auction sites like EBAY if I am not mistaken. A collector's haunt.

I am not that young either *wink*. Just don't let your heart grows old. That's where it counts most. Kay. It's my secret of youth.

:) You store everything onto your USB pen? I have never thought of doing that except my school work and banking stuff.

Not exactly everything. Especially not sensitive informations. It would be way too dangerous to do so. It's mostly applications/softwares that runs on USB drives - very handy u see. As I need not install said program into my friends PC shud I need to borrow their computer for some work that need that particular application.

Other than that, it's mostly stuff like music, ebooks, audiobooks, movies and mangas - for entertainment. All work and no play is a no no. Really makes one dull. :D
